Durango Area Tourism Office announces opening for Tourism Related Retail Board Seat

Nominations forms due December 21, 2012

Durango, CO – The Durango Area Tourism Office is accepting nominations for the open Board of Directors seat representing the Tourism Related Retail segment of the Durango/La Plata County tourism industry.

Eligibility: The nominee(s) must be an active member of the local Tourism Related Retail industry with operations based in Durango/La Plata County. The role of every board member is to provide insight, guidance and support to the DATO staff to promote tourism in our community and to represent the various tourism-based constituencies on the board.

Basic Responsibilities:
Represent, in an equal and fair manner, the interests of retailers “Tourism Related Retail” that relates to tourism commerce within the county. This includes maintaining regular communication with industry peers to receive and share their input
Attend the DATO Monthly Board meetings
Participate in one of the DATO Board committees
Attend the Annual Southwest Tourism Summit or a like industry event
Attend annual Board retreat

While not all of our tourism activity supports our retail community, retail sales taxes and lodger’s taxes are what keep the City healthy financially and thus should be the main concern of this seat.
