Durango Chamber of Commerce Fund Raiser

The Durango Chamber of Commerce announced today that over $1000 was raised for the Fort Lewis College Women’s Golf team during their recent Girls Gone Golfing event.

The golf event, held June 5th at Hillcrest Golf course raised funds with the help of two FLC team members, Jessica Thulson and Myranda Crawford. Thulson and Crawford were strategically placed at Hillcrest par 3 holes 9 and 12. As the ladies participating in Girls Gone Golfing played those holes, they had the opportunity to donate to either Thulson or Crawford to play the hole with them during the scramble format. This along with other games played throughout the day tallied over $1000 that will be presented to the FLC Women’s golf team on Tuesday, June 16th at 11:00am at Hillcrest Golf Course.
According to Rita Simon, Chamber Manager for the Durango Chamber of Commerce and founder of the Girls Gone Golfing event, “it is very exciting to be able to contribute funds to the newly formed Fort Lewis counterparts. It seemed like the perfect fit to ask the GGG women attendees to help these female student athletes become successful as the first ever FLC Women’s golf team. I am very proud to be part of this event, proud of the women who contributed and proud of the FLC Women’s golf team.”

The Durango Chamber of Commerce hosts Girls Gone Golfing the first Friday of June each year. To find out more information about this event or other Chamber events visit www.durangobusiness.org or call 970-247-0312.
