Changes in Durango Dollar Program Announced
Durango, CO – Durango Dollars just got a whole lot easier to use, both in purchasing and spending. Beginning November 15, 2012 Durango Dollars will now be issued in a new “gift card” format. So, the good news is now you can purchase Durango Dollars in any increment with a $25 minimum, and you will literally be able to spend them at ANY business in La Plata County (that accepts credit cards). Thanks to the Chamber’s partnership with Alpine Bank, the new Durango Dollar gift card program will be efficient and seamless.
According to Executive Director, Jack Llewellyn, “Durango Dollars are entering the twenty first century. As checks become more and more obsolete, the new Durango Dollar program will make it easier for businesses to accept them and easier for our community to purchase them. We look forward to this transition out of the “check style” Durango Dollars and into the “gift card” program. It will also be convenient because we can issue in any amount, not just $10 increments. Durango Dollars can be purchased at the Chamber offices in Santa Rita Park, and now you also have the choice of purchasing them at Alpine Bank’s downtown office and the Alpine Bank branch in Three Springs. But don’t worry; if you still have some old style Durango Dollars you can still spend them locally.
As the holidays approach, we encourage you to call ahead, especially if you are ordering large amounts for end of year bonuses or for holiday gifts.
