GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. The Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) named Alpine Banks of Colorado a top honoree in the 2009 ICBA National Community Bank Service Awards for the bank’s outstanding leadership in its “Loyalty Visa Check Card” program.

“”ICBA is proud of Alpine Banks of Colorado,”” said R. Michael Menzies, incoming ICBA chairman and president and CEO of Easton Bank and Trust Co., Easton, Md. “”They are a shining example of the volunteer service community banks all over the country provide every day.””

The “Loyalty Visa Check Card” program, launched in 1997, initially offered an education loyalty card to reward customer loyalty and benefit students, teachers and schools needing classroom support. However, since the program’s inception, it has expanded to offer loyalty cards serving various worthy causes. Among the loyalty card offerings are an arts, environment, community and Colorado Mountain College loyalty card. The latest addition, the Americas loyalty card, celebrates Latin-American heritage. Alpine Bank donates 10 cents every time a customer uses their loyalty card and the monies benefit various nonprofit organizations and community projects within each loyalty card’s respective focus.

“Because of our customers’ loyalty, we’ve contributed more than $2 million back to our communities since the inception of our loyalty card program,” said Lynne Bowers, Alpine Bank’s marketing department supply coordinator.

ICBA founded the National Community Bank Service Awards program to help celebrate outstanding volunteer efforts of community banks. The ICBA National Community Bank Service Awards bring national recognition to the unparalleled contributions community banks make to help sustain their communities. The awards are given to ICBA members that show longstanding commitments to community outreach and development.
