La Plata County’s 2011 Durango Community Survey Results Available On Line

In April and May of 2011, the County launched its 2011 Community Survey as part of an ongoing effort to improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness. The survey was conducted as part of the implementation of the “La Plata County Compass,” the County’s strategic plan, to gauge the level of citizen satisfaction with delivery of services. A link to a report explaining the process and results of the survey and the La Plata County Compass can be viewed on the County website homepage at www.co.laplata.co.us.

Working with Fort Lewis College Professor Dr. Beverly Chew to achieve statistically valid results, La Plata County randomly selected a group of registered voters from throughout the County to participate in the survey. A series of three postcards were mailed to 3,000 voters, inviting them to complete the survey to help better serve the needs of constituents. Approximately 360 people responded either on line or by mail.

The survey is the first in a series that will be administered over the next several years and will create a baseline of information to assist the County’s elected officials, department heads and staff to continually improve performance.
