Leadership La Plata announces 2013-2014 Class


Durango, CO – Leadership La Plata (LLP), the diverse, all-volunteer organization designed to educate and train community leaders from throughout the county, has announced its new class for 2013-2014. Eighteen were selected from a highly qualified field of dynamic individuals.

New class members include Amber Beye (community organizer, San Juan Basin Health); Chester Brandt (systems analyst, StoneAge); Ron Dunavant (president, First National Bank of Durango – Bayfield); Jeff Dupont (director of recreational services, Fort Lewis College); Kelsea Ferrato (marketing manager, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory); Jordan Golson (independent technical writer); Kim Hardesty (owner/physical therapist, Horse Empower LLC); Petra Hinke; and Dick Imig (CPA/manager, Gervais & Associates).

Rounding out the class are Kirk Komick (owner/manager, Leland House/Rochester Hotel); Lesley Lacht (executive director, Durango Early Learning Center); Pam Moore (deputy director, Regional Housing Alliance); Vaughn Morris (chief professional officer, Boys & Girls Club of La Plata County); Shanna Sasser; Arianna Smith (program manager, Volunteers of America/Southwest Safehouse); Louis Vito (captain, Durango Fire & Rescue Authority); Terri Will (broker, Associates Group of Insurance Companies); and Briggen Wrinkle (executive director, Community Foundation Serving Southwest Colorado).

Now in its 26th year, LLP is a program of the Durango Chamber of Commerce and provides leadership skills training and broad-based education covering all facets of the community. More than 400 LLP graduates are currently engaged in community leadership roles, from business and local government to non-profit agencies.
