LPEA raising funds for American Cancer Society Relay for Life
Variety of events to add dollars to LPEA’s donation
Durango, CO – To help raise funds for the up-coming American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, employees of La Plata Electric Association (LPEA) are inviting the community to participate in a variety of fundraising events at LPEA, 45 Stewart St. (Bodo Park), Durango.
§ Wednesday, June 12 – 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. – Spaghetti Lunch
§ Saturday, June 15 – 8 a.m.-2 p.m. – Community Yard Sale
§ Thursday, June 20 – 6 p.m. – Dinner & Bunco Tournament
§ Wednesday, June 26 – 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. – Frito Pie Lunch
“For the Spaghetti and Frito Pie lunches, we’ll be serving up hearty plates in the LPEA board room as a nice, casual lunch for a good cause,” said Jeannie Bennett, LPEA public relations coordinator who is organizing the LPEA Relay for Life events. “Suggested donation is $5, and all dollars donated go to Relay for Life.”
For the Community Yard Sale, to be held in the LPEA parking lot, individuals or businesses are invited to participate as vendors for a flat fee of $20. Proceeds from all items sold remain with the vendor, or can be donated to Relay for Life. Additionally, community members wishing to simply donate items to sell at the yard sale can drop items off at LPEA at 7 a.m. on June 15.
“And we look forward to lots of folks coming out to shop the yard sale that day,” added Bennett. “We will also have lunch and refreshments for sale.”
Reservations are required for the Bunco Fundraiser on June 20. The entry fee is $25 per person (18 and older), with $20 of each entry fee donated to Relay for Life. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. in LPEA’s multi-purpose/board room, with the Bunco tournament following.
“We hope to make this an annual event,” said LPEA’s Kelly Alsum, who is coordinating the evening. “There will be cash prizes and door prizes – plus a lot of fun.”
