NATIONAL ECONOMIST TO ADDRESS TWO LOCAL BUSINESS ORGANIZATIONS

  

Elliot Eisenberg, Senior Economist from Washington D.C., is returning to Durango for two speaking engagements.   Elliot is a Senior Economist from the National Association of Home Builders and a frequent visitor to Durango.  Mr. Eisenberg is a nationally recognized speaker who is frequently seen on television and heard on radio.  His research and opinions have been featured in Business Week and Fortune Magazine and also in many national and local newspapers.  Elliot brings an unbridled enthusiasm and makes a normally dry complicated topic, energetic and understandable. 

On Tuesday, May 25, 2010, Mr. Eisenberg will speak at the Eggs and Issues breakfast event hosted by the Durango Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by the Bank of Colorado.  His topic is “Overarching Economic Trends” and he will share information on the state of the national economy and how that relates to Durango.   Reservations are required.  Please contact the Chamber of Commerce at 970/247-0312.  Breakfast begins at 8:00am and the cost is $14 for Chamber members and $20 for non-members.  

On Thursday, May 27, 2010, Mr. Eisenberg will be the keynote speaker at the Home Builders Association of SW Colorado Meeting.  The meeting is sponsored by OrePac Building Products the distributor for TimberTec decking and railing products stocked at Alpine Lumber Company. Mr. Eisenberg’s topic “Unintended Consequences of Government Regulation and Long-Term Economic Trends” should provide the audience insight and awareness of the current economic impacts with a fresh perspective of the future and how to prepare their businesses to survive the current economy.  The presentation will take place at the Strater Hotel.  The press is welcome.  Reservations are required for the public.  Please contact 382-0082 to RSVP prior to the event.   Registration and dinner begin at 6:00 pm and the cost is $25.  Space is limited.
