New Publisher Announced for Arts Perspective Magazine

Denise Leslie to Lead Regional Arts Print Venue

DURANGO, CO., February 11, 2010 – After six years of successful publication, Arts Perspective magazine names its new publisher, Denise Leslie of Durango. Denise will guide Southwest Colorado’s only quarterly arts publication with full support from previous publisher and co-founder, Heather Leavitt, who will stay on as editor.

“I was drawn to and read every single article the first time I picked up the magazine. Months later, I met Heather and discovered the passion behind the product,” says Denise, “I am so excited about this path I am taking and offering my skills to help further promote the arts in Southwest Colorado and the Four Corners Region.”

Denise has worked to support all genres of visual and performing arts as a professional marketing specialist. She began marketing for large stadium shows, moved to work with small vintage theaters then continued her craft through contract work in Austin with the University of Texas Performing Arts Center, Austin Lyric Opera, Austin Musical Theatre and Performing Arts Academy, Scottish Rite Children’s Theatre, Alamo Drafthouse, Frank Erwin Center at the University of Texas and worked closely with fine artist Karen Maness to coordinate a fine art exhibition.  She is most known locally for her recent work as Marketing and Communications Manager with Music in the Mountains.

In addition to Arts Perspective magazine, Denise has recently launched Southwest Arts Programs, which publishes “playbills” as a service to organizations and venues presenting music, theatre, dance and other festivals or events throughout the Four Corners Region. Programs feature program notes, biographies, information about the individual organizations represented and those who support them.

Heather states, “After 24 successful issues, it is time once again to expand the inspiration behind Arts Perspective. Together we will continue to support and strengthen our arts community through this unique print venue. I am confident that Arts Perspective and the arts communities of Southwest Colorado will benefit from Denise’s talent. I am honored to find a shared vision with Denise and grateful for all the support the magazine has received over the years.” Heather and Denise look forward to creating the summer Community issue together and continuing to work through 2010.
