Southwest Business Forum at Fort Lewis College open to anyone interested in their financial future
DURANGO, CO – The 18th Southwest Business Forum returns to the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College on Friday, January 8, 2010. The Forum is free and open to the public and runs from 7:30 – 11:30 a.m.
The point of the Forum is to bring together experts on local, state, national and international economies and businesses. Armed with the knowledge gained from these experts, as well as their predictions for the future, those who attend the Forum will have the opportunity to make better personal and business decisions.

Four speakers will share their insights at the Forum.
Dr. Richard Wobbekind – Director, Business Research Division, University of Colorado – Boulder
A resident of Colorado for over 30 years, Dr. Richard Wobbekind began teaching business at the University of Colorado – Boulder in 1985. As director of the University’s Business Research Division, he trains his focus and expertise on analyzing the Colorado economy. Included in his responsibilities is creating an economic forecast for the state.
In addition to his work at UC – Boulder, Dr. Wobbekind is the current vice president of the National Association of Business Economics. In the past, he’s worked with the Economic Developers Council of Colorado, the Association of University Business and Economics Research (past president), the Denver Association of Business Economics (past president), the Western Economics Association, and the Western Regional Science Association.
Dr. Scott Anderson – Senior Economist & Vice President, Wells Fargo Bank, N.A.
Dr. Scott Anderson worked for Moody’s Economy.com and the International Monetary Fund before joining Wells Fargo Bank in 2001. There he focuses on analyzing and forecasting economic trends on a regional, national and international scale.
So valued are Dr. Anderson’s insights that he’s appeared in media outlets such as: CNN, Bloomberg, MSNBC, CBS MarketWatch, BBC, NPR, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Financial Times, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, the Chicago Tribune, USA Today, and the San Francisco Chronicle.
Dr. Luke Miller – Assistant Professor, Fort Lewis College
Dr. Luke Miller is an assistant professor of Finance at Fort Lewis College and co-director of the Office of Economic Analysis and Business Research. He holds degrees in Systems Engineering and Financial Engineering from the University of Virginia and Auburn University, respectively.
Dr. Miller’s consulting, teaching and research expertise runs the gamut of business valuation, from financial planning to risk management.
Dr. Tino Sonora – Associate Professor, Fort Lewis College
Dr. Tino Sonora is an associate professor of Economics at Fort Lewis College and co-director of the Office of Economic Analysis and Business Research. He has taught economics at Ohio Wesleyan University, the University of Texas at Arlington, and the University of Zagreb in Croatia.
Dr. Sonora’s areas of focus include: transition economies, intra-national business cycles, monetary economics, and international trade.
