Treasurer’s Office Offers Property Tax Payments Online

La Plata County – La Plata County Treasurer Ed Murray launched “Treasurer Web” for the convenience of property owners in La Plata County. Now, anywhere in the world with internet access, La Plata County property owners can now pay their property taxes online with a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express) or by e-check:

To access Treasurer Web, visit the County’s website at www.co.laplata.co.us and from the “e-services” link from the home page, click on “Treasurer’s Tax Account Inquiry,” the entrance to the Treasurer Web. Specific properties can be easily found by filling in one or more fields. The public login is free, but Title Companies may register for an account to have the ability to quickly and easily pay for and print Certificates of Taxes Due for properties.

The online payment service is hosted by Official Payments Corporation and it does include a non-refundable convenience fee of 2.50% of the total transaction amount if paid by credit card (with a $3.95 minimum), or $3.00 per transaction if paid by e-check for transactions up to $10.00, and $15.00 on transactions greater than $10,000. This online service receives no federal, state or local tax dollars, and therefore the convenience fees are used to pay for overhead costs. These payments can also be made by phone at 800-487-4567.

Also on Treasurer Web, citizens can:
Print forms and receipts;
View assessed property values for previous years;
View a record of property tax payments made;
View legal/physical address;
View current and delinquent tax charges;
View interest and abatement charges;
View miscellaneous charges and special assessments.

As always, citizens can mail or deliver their property tax payments to the La Plata County Treasurer’s Office located at 1060 Main Avenue, Suite 103, Durango, CO 81301 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
