Durango, CO – The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) continues to make sure Durango, Colorado hosts the best Overall Start for the largest bike race on American soil. To off-set the costs of the race to the city of Durango, a USA Pro Challenge Auction is being held starting on Thursday, July 19th and ending on Monday, July 30th. The auction will be held online at Durango 2012.com.
Auction is open to the public and contains three special limited items:
VIP Car Ride in the Official Race Caravan
Autographed Leader’s Jersey
Autographed Stage 1 Leader Jersey
“We are extremely exited to annouce the auction of these three amazing and unique items,” said Mary Monroe, LOC Co-Chair. “This wonderful online event both helps the City of Durango and provides race fans with one-of-a-kind experiences and memorabilia they won’t be able to get anywhere else.”

What is the big bicycle race everyone is talking about?
The USA Pro Cycling Challenge is a seven-day bicycle stage race featuring the best international road cyclists in the world. Durango is the overall start on Monday, August 20 and the race finishes in Denver on Sunday, August 26. Durango expects 20,000 to 25,000 visitors and 150 media representatives during the weekend. This is the largest cycling event on U.S. Soil and the largest event to ever hit Durango.
What can I do?
Support the Local Organizing Committee by volunteering, purchasing merchandise, or becoming a local sponsor. Go to Durango2012.com for all your race information needs. This event will be very fun for locals. Have fun and please participate in the weekend events.
Where can we watch the race?
Durango has three laps circulating around downtown, then up to Fort Lewis College (FLC) and Rim Drive before racers head off to Telluride. Festivities begin at 6:00am on Monday, August 20 and the official race start is at 10:00am at 8th and Main. View the official course map at Durango2012.com. Is there anything to do the weekend before the race?
FLC is hosting the Cycling Village and will be the hub for racers, teams, media, festivities, and the Start Festival on and Sunday. FLC is home to the FLC Cycling Team, the #1 collegiate cycling team in the nation for three years in a row and an integral partner for the Overall Start. The weekend is full of events happening from the art unveiling, concerts, a mountain bike and trail running race, and more. Help us show off our town by participating in the activities.
