Downtown Clean Day 2016 set for May 27 – volunteers invited
Locals to come out to “polish” the town in advance of tourist season
Durango, CO – The Durango Chamber of Commerce, the Durango Business Improvement District (BID), and the City of Durango, are once again coordinating the annual Downtown Clean Day, Friday, May 27, 2016. The “community pride” event is designed to help “polish” Downtown in advance of the busy tourism season, and help Durango put its best face forward.
“This is always a terrific community feel-good event,” said Tim Walsworth, BID executive director. “We want our town to shine during our summer tourism season, and having businesses and individuals come down and volunteer just a little bit of time, really makes that happen.”
Volunteers willing to help sweep, pick up trash, clean sidewalks and more are asked to meet by 8:45 a.m. on Friday in the parking lot of Keller Williams Realty (Main Ave. just north of 7 th St. and Main). Complimentary coffee and doughnuts from Carver Brewing Co. and the Chamber, respectively, will be available, and the BID will distribute free event t-shirts and work gloves to volunteers. Free parking at Downtown meters will also be available to Clean Day volunteers, and complimentary passes from the City will be provided at the assembly location (look for the Chamber tent in the Keller Williams parking lot).
Prior to 9 a.m., volunteers will receive their “block” assignments, and work is expected to be completed well before noon.
For requested block assignments or special Clean Day projects, businesses are asked to coordinate with Chamber Manager Rita Simon, 970.247.0312 or [email protected].
