2012 Precinct Caucus Information
Durango, CO – The 2012 election year is just around the corner, which means that Colorado political parties will be preparing to hold their precinct caucuses soon. What is a caucus? Precinct caucuses are meetings organized by Colorado’s political parties to begin the process of selecting candidates and policy positions for the 2012 election. Caucuses are held in locations across Colorado and are open to the public.
To vote at a precinct caucus, you must be a resident of the precinct for thirty days, be registered to vote at your correct address no later than twenty-nine days before the caucus, and be affiliated with the political party holding the caucus for at least two months. You do not need to re-register to vote in your caucus if your address and other voter information is current.
The American Constitution Party precinct caucus is March 6, 2012. The last day to affiliate with the American Constitution Party is January 6, 2012. The last day to update your voter information for your precinct is February 6, 2012.
The Democratic Party precinct caucus is March 6, 2012. The last day to affiliate with the Democratic Party is January 6, 2012. The last day to update your voter information for your precinct is February 6, 2012.
The Republican Party precinct caucus is February 7, 2012. The last day to affiliate with the Republican Party is December 7, 2011. The last day to update your voter information for your precinct is January 9, 2012.
Caucuses are conducted by the political parties and not all political parties will conduct a caucus. The La Plata County Clerk & Recorder does not conduct caucuses or provide ballots for caucuses. For more information about your caucus, contact your local political party:
