Aunt Lydia’s Meat Loaf

This recipe adapted from Ken & Sue’s in Durango comes from Sue Fusco’s 90-year-old aunt, who lives in Coral Gables, Fla. Serves 8-10.

Ingredients

1 pound ground pork sausage

2 pounds ground top round beef

1 cup half and half

3 eggs

1 teaspoon kosher salt

1 teaspoon coarse grind black pepper

1 tablespoon minced garlic, or to taste

3/4 cup bread crumbs

Directions

Preheat oven to 400.

In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients well and separate into two loaves on a sheet pan. Bake 1 hour. Let loaves rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
