Change to the Trolley Route Begins Sunday, May 13th

Durango, CO – Due to time constraints, the trolley will implement changes to the Main Avenue Trolley Route on Sunday, May 13th (first day of the summer schedule).

The changes are as follows: Southbound trolley will turn right on 7th Avenue after dropping off passengers at the corner of 7th and Main, then will go through the parking lot of the Transit Center to the Transit Center trolley stop. When it leaves the Transit Center, it will take a left on Main and proceed north. It will no longer turn right and stop at the College and Main stop.

These changes will only impact one stop (College & Main). Passengers will now be debarking the trolley one block north from the train station. In 2011, ridership on the trolley increased 14% or approximately 2700 additional passengers each month. The consistent increase in trolley ridership also increases the amount of time it takes all passengers to embark and debark at each stop. Durango Transit expects this change to save approximately eight minutes per trolley loop and keep the trolley on time.
