County Commissioner Kellie Hotter Appointed to Serve on the Colorado Workforce Development Council
La Plata County Commissioner Kellie Hotter was recently appointed by outgoing Governor Bill Ritter, Jr. to serve on the Colorado Workforce Development Council. The Colorado Workforce Development Council (CWDC) advises the Governor and the Colorado Legislature on policy matters related to all programs and activities funded by the Workforce Investment Act. The CWDC has been engaged in creative alliances with industry, economic development, and education, which have helped to infuse over $10 million into the workforce system to support the enrollment, training, and placement of the unemployed, under-employed, and incumbent workers into high-wage jobs. These partnerships reflect the critical importance of education, employment, and economic development to the State’s edge and empower the system to be responsive to local issues.
Commissioner Hotter has served as a La Plata County Commissioner since February, 2006. Among other boards, she also serves on the Colorado Rural Consortium Board and on the Colorado Rural Workforce Consortium Board of Locally Elected Officials, as well as the Southwest (Region 9) Workforce Development Board.
“I’m honored to serve on these workforce-related boards,” said Commissioner Hotter. “Serving at the local, regional and state level will afford La Plata County a much stronger voice. I look forward to the opportunity to work with other counties throughout the state on issues of mutual interest and concern relating to these workforce issues.”
