COUNTY MANAGER TENDERS RESIGNATION
Kellie C. Hotter, Chair of the La Plata County Board of County Commissioners, announced today that County Manager Shawn Nau has tendered his resignation effective August 1, 2011. Mr. Nau joined La Plata County as County Manager in April 2008. He previously worked as General Services Director for Maricopa County in Arizona.
“We are grateful for the 3 years of service that Shawn has provided to La Plata County, and we appreciate the contributions he has made to our organization and our community,” remarked Chairman Hotter. “In particular, Shawn ensured sound stewardship of the County’s financial resources and assets during challenging economic times. In addition, his emphasis on ‘managing for results’ and departmental strategic business plans will continue to help us improve both our service and efficiency well into the future. Shawn also participated to the formation of the Economic Development Alliance and the Southwest Colorado Council of Governments, which represent milestones in intergovernmental cooperation.”
“My family and I have developed a deep and abiding love for the La Plata County community and all of southwest Colorado,” said Mr. Nau. “It is truly a beautiful place with wonderful people. I wish the very best for La Plata County as an organization and the entire community.”
Chairman Hotter also announced that Board intends to name Assistant County Manager Joanne M. Spina as interim county manager until a new county manager is appointed.
