DURANGO, Colo. – The reconstruction of downtown sidewalks will begin the week of May 4 as part of the Transit Center project.
The first phase will be along 7th and 8th Streets between Camino del Rio and the railroad tracks. Future phases will extend sidewalk improvements along 7th and 8th Streets from the Transit Center to Main Avenue. The reconstruction is a state-funded, multi-phase project designed to enhance the pedestrian experience in the downtown area, as well as increase safety and accessibility for all citizens.
During construction, parking will be prohibited along the street in the project area. A pedestrian walkway will be provided using parade barricades. The City anticipates completion of this phase by mid-June.
