Durango Mayor Honored by Colorado Women’s Bar Association
Durango, CO – Durango Mayor Leigh Meigs was recently honored by the Colorado Women’s Bar Association Foundation at their fourth annual “Raising the Bar” dinner. This year’s dinner honored Colorado women lawyer leaders in government.
“One of the ideas behind the event was to encourage girls and young women to enter legal careers,” commented Mayor Meigs. “A law degree is attractive to women because there is transformative power in law – laws are a powerful way to make a difference in your community.”
The Colorado Women’s Bar Association (CWBA) Foundation was established as a non-profit, charitable corporation in 1988, through the efforts of long-time CWBA member Jan Bernstein. The CWBA Foundation’s purpose is to implement the charitable and educational work of the CWBA, that is, to promote the advancement of women in the law, and to protect and promote the welfare of all women.
