Durango Passenger Traffic Soars to New Records
The Durango-La Plata County Airport continued to grow at record pace during the first half of the year with 79,133 passengers boarding commercial airlines through June 30 of this year compared to 73,821 during the same period in 2010, an increase of 7.2%.
On June 9, American Eagle initiated jet service between Durango and Dallas-Fort Worth and these
flights have been operating at 90% capacity, helping to boost the traffic to a record of 16,345 enplanements in June, a 10% increase from June, 2010.
Durango now offers 15 daily flights on four airlines to Denver, Phoenix and Dallas-Fort Worth.
The addition of American Eagle to the existing service from United, Frontier and U.S. Airways has increased the number of airlines seats to over 720 departing Durango daily.
