Durango Police Arrest Suspected Counterfeiter

 

Durango, CO –Durango Police arrested a man suspected of being responsible for series of incidents beginning in early February, involving thefts and transactions using counterfeit money. Dennis Alan Childers was arrested today and a search warrant served for his residence on Animas View Drive. Childers is suspected of making counterfeit money in $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100 denominations, then using the counterfeit money to purchase musical instruments and other items listed for sale in the classified ads. During the search of Childers’ residence, Durango Police recovered stolen property, office equipment, counterfeit money and controlled substances. Childers is being held in La Plata County Jail on charges of Theft, Forgery and Possession of Controlled Substance.
