Durango Public Library Announces New Hours

 

Durango, CO –   Beginning September 8, 2009 the following new hours will be in effect at the Durango Public Library:

Monday – Wednesday: 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Thursday: 10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Friday – Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Sunday:  Closed

This reduction in hours is the result of the current budget situation for the City of Durango and La Plata County.  The Library is funded by sales tax revenues, which are significantly lower in 2009 compared to 2008.  As a result, vacant staff positions have been frozen and hours of part-time personnel have been reduced.  Closure hours were selected to impact the community in as limited a way as possible.

Many library services are available round-the-clock on the Library’s website, www.DurangoPublicLibrary.org.  Patrons can access the library’s catalog, place holds on books, make interlibrary loan requests or access most library databases.  In addition, patrons may also download electronic and audio books.
