GAGA FOR HALLOWEEN?!? Great Halloween Costume ideas

With just a little more than two weeks to go, mom’s and dad’s of superheroes and princesses better get the costumes together… quick! Get out the scissors and glue, cardboard and some wild fabric and make your little one’s costume this year. Try Thomas the Train or step back a few generations and go for the greatest secret agent of all times, Danger Mouse or a subterranean creature from Fragglerock. Do it together- you’ll have fun and save some cash.

This year’s greatest sellers are sure to include: Spider Man, Woody from Toy Story, and Captain America for boys; Alice in Wonderland, Hannah Montana, and Uniqua from the Backyardigans for girls.  If the entire family is going out- dress up as all of the characters from Toy Story, Star Wars, or Where the Wild Things Are.

There are so many great ideas for Halloween costumes for adults this year, too. Sticking with the traditional witch, the classic devil, or a scary ghost is alright…  but, it’s Halloween. It’s one night of the year, when you can get a little crazy. Go ahead, step outside of your comfort box and be bizarre.  Opt for something a little racy like Lady Gaga- she pulls off amazing costumes, you could do it for a night. Or put on a different kind of medical suit and dress up as Nurse Jackie. How about the Mad Hatter… Johnny Depp style. Couples can save the world as Jake Sulley or Neytiri from Avatar or get silly together and go with Barney and Pebbles or Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog.

Whatever you decide to go as- make it a great night. A few safety tips for parents trick or treating with little ones: 1. Go With Them! Plan your route together and hit the streets. This way, you don’t have to worry about them going to the wrong house/neighborhood/ or going inside stranger’s homes. 2. Glow Sticks are great (iPhone’s have a “Glow Stick” app, check it out). and 3. Feed them a good meal before you go (they won’t be as tempted to eat candy along the way) and be sure to check the candy before they eat it once your get home… because you just never know.  Safety tips for adults and parents heading out to enjoy the night without the kids: 1. A lot of costumed individuals will be out and about- make sure to keep your eyes open and watch where you are going. 2. Be responsible, designate a driver, or take the trolley. And 3. Have fun… because why not? After all, it is Halloween.
