Get a ‘Taste of Durango’
It’s time to get your taste buds ready for the SPECTACULAR annual tasting festival, ‘THE TASTE OF DURANGO’! Durango’s premier festival showcasing the fabulous fare of our fine restaurants and breweries. Mark it on your calendar for Sunday May 16th, 2010 from 11am to 3pm.
Bringing locals and visitors together for the finest food and beverage tasting for the last several years, the Taste of Durango is an event that not only tantalizes the taste-buds but benefits our community in a way that is extremely special!
The Manna Soup Kitchen of Durango is the main beneficiary from the proceeds and they also provide much needed volunteers to stage the event. Last year over 24 booths and over 7200 attendees filled the streets of Durango partaking in this incredible event while raising over 11,800 dollars for the Manna Soup kitchen. The main Sponsor for the event, First National Bank of Durango’s Steve Short comments “We are always proud to sponsor this annual well attended, signature event.”
This is a great opportunity for local businesses to showcase their establishment and target year around customers. Portion sizes are “tastes” to allow people to visit all the booths and enjoy their featured fares. All vendors will create succulent and unique tasters while also offering their “signature” drink choices. Brian McEachron of Steamworks Brewery says his chef has a special treat for Durango this year, Teresitas Empanadas – Santa Rita Beef with onions, green olives, raisins & hard boiled eggs along with their selection of draft brews. And if that doesn’t make your taste buds dance you can head over to Cyprus Café’s booth and savor their featured James Ranch Braised Beef with a Tomato Cinnamon Sauce or a Marinated Calamari Salad. And while you’re there, get a sneak peak at their grand opening of Durango’s “newest greatest wine bar ‘Eno’. “We will be pairing Cyprus’s fare with a selection of our new wine bar ‘Eno’s’ fine Spanish wines” says owner, Alison Dance.
