Habitat for Humanity International Challenges Local Affiliate to increase Haiti Relief Aid
Habitat for Humanity International is actively contributing to Haiti relief efforts and preparing to rebuild homes for families who have been devastated by the massive earthquake. Habitat for Humanity of La Plata County has received $250 from our local community to help contribute to these efforts.
Now, more than ever, the country of Haiti needs our help and Habitat International is challenging each local affiliate to do more. “…Habitat International proposes the following challenge: That U.S. affiliates-collectively-raise $3 million (of HFHI’s $60-$80 million goal) for Habitat’s Haiti recovery effort. While certainly a stretch in this tough economic climate, we believe $3 million to be an attainable goal. Ephesians 3:21 tells us, “God can do anything, you know-far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!” (The Message) We have seen God touch the hearts of people to come to the aid of those who have been affected by natural disasters, and we believe that God will help the people of Haiti now. This is a powerful opportunity for the affiliates in the United States to leverage their collective strength and be part of a compassionate response.”
Habitat for Humanity of La Plata County has pledged to raise $650 per home built in 2009, with a total donation of $1300. We need the community’s help to raise this money and begin to rebuild the lives and homes of Haitian families.
