Holiday schedule for City offices/services announced

– The City of Durango has announced its holiday schedule.


City offices will close at 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 24, and will be closed December 25 for the Christmas holiday.


Trash will be collected as scheduled on Wednesday, Dec. 24, however, no pick-ups are scheduled on Dec. 25. Customers on the Thursday trash schedule are asked to place their materials out on Friday. Residential curbside recycling collection has been suspended this week due to the weather conditions, but will resume the week of Dec. 29. All recycling drop off centers in town are open Christmas Day.


Limited bus and trolley service is available on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, with no service on Christmas Day, Dec. 25. On Christmas Eve, the trolley runs 7 a.m. until 6:20 p.m., with the last trolley leaving College and Main Avenue at 5:40 p.m. Bus routes 2, 3, and 4 will end at 12:48 p.m., but two buses will operate the citywide route (Route 5) from 12:52 p.m. until 5:52 p.m.  The bus to Mercy Regional Medical Center begins at 5 a.m., but ends at 12:15 p.m. Only one opportunity bus will be available from 7:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Dec. 24. The Route 5 evening bus will not run Dec. 20 through Jan. 11 and will resume on Monday, Jan. 12. 


The Durango Community Recreation Center will be open 5:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve, and closed all day on Christmas. Chapman Hill will be open on Christmas Eve from 12 noon until 2 p.m. for a public skate only, and will be closed all day Christmas Day.


Durango Public Library will be closed all day Dec. 24 and 25, and will resume regular hours on Friday, Dec. 26. Patrons may return materials in the drive-thru on south side of the building.


City offices will also be closing at 11:30 a.m. on New Year’s Eve and will be closed on New Year’s Day.
