La Plata County Commissioners Accepting Applications for a Proposed Federal Mineral District Board
Durango, CO – The Board of County Commissioners is soliciting applications from interested individuals to serve on the Board of Directors of the proposed La Plata County Federal Mineral District. If the district is established the new Board of Directors will be responsible for distributing approximately $500,000, on an annual basis, of federal mineral lease funds to areas within the County that are socially or economically impacted, either directly or indirectly, by the development, processing or energy conversion of fuels and minerals.
Formation of the District and appointments to the Board of Directors will be considered by the Board of County Commissioners in late May, 2012. Applicants must be residents of La Plata County and the Board is specifically seeking applicants who are familiar with the energy industry and its impacts on the local community.

Applications must be submitted by May 14, 2012.
