La Plata County Fairgrounds to Re-Open to Horses

 

With no new confirmed cases of Equine Herpesvirus 1 in Colorado since May 20, the La Plata County Fairgrounds will re-open to horses on Sunday, June 5, 2011.  Due to an outbreak of Equine Herpesvirus 1 in Colorado and surrounding areas, as a precautionary measure, the La Plata County Fairgrounds had been closed to all horse related activities since May 18, 2011. 

“We will of course keep a close eye on the situation and make any changes necessary to help keep this disease from affecting our horses,” said Al Thye, La Plata County’s General Services Director.
