DURANGO, Colo. – As part of its commitment to United Way of Southwest Colorado, La Plata Electric Association, in partnership with Ska Brewing Co., will host the second annual “Bodo Bash” for United Way, Thursday, Oct. 22, 5-7 p.m. at the Ska “world headquarters.”
The evening will feature live bluegrass music with the Scrugglers, and Ska pints will be available for $3 apiece with $1 from each brew contributed to the United Way effort. A donation of $1 at the door (for United Way) is also suggested.
“We’re also organizing some fun games such as Pumpkin Bowling,” said Jeannie Bennett, LPEA public relations coordinator who handles community event efforts for the co-op. “The inaugural event last year was very successful, and we hope this year will be even better. Everyone is invited to come by for a little Happy Hour cheer and help United Way.”
Ska Brewing Co. is located at 225 Girard Drive. The 24,000 square foot facility includes a spacious tasting room that opens on to an outdoor beer garden. Weather will influence whether or not the beer garden is utilized during the event.
In 2008, LPEA – a United Way Pacesetter – raised nearly $30,000 for United Way through direct employee contributions and creative fund raisers such as the “Bodo Bash.” Hope is to increase the United Way gift during the 2009 campaign.
