Make Your Wedding Budget Go Further

Make Your Wedding Budget Go Further

B. Armstrong

Engaged couples long for a wedding day that will be unique and memorable, but in these tough economic times many are becoming more cautious about how they plan and spend their budget.

In 2008, the average cost of a wedding was $21,814, according to The Wedding Report, a research company that tracks wedding spending in the United States. That is a 24 percent decline over the 2007 average of $28,704. This doesn’t mean you can’t have exactly what you want on your big day to create your dream wedding.

People are looking for ways to maximize their wedding budget. Here’s a few things you can do to make your dollar go further.

  • Hire a Wedding Coordinator or Wedding Liaison. That doesn’t seem to make sense, right? However, having one contact person coordinating all of the efforts saves all of your vendors time; therefore, saving you money in the long run.

“I find being the ‘go between’ for the client and their vendors to be very rewarding. I save the client the stress and I offer guidance and direction to vendors that might be out of the loop; that way, the day is everything the client  wants it to be!”  -Brenda Armstrong, Smiley Building Wedding/Event Liaison.

  • Look for ways to reduce costs. Savings can be found in flower arrangements, the band or entertainment, open/cash bar, even in days of the week.

“Choosing a Sunday-Thursday wedding date can save hundreds of dollars. Many people are coming in from out of town and adding one day to their trip isn’t usually a problem. Plus, this gives them more time to spend with the bride and groom.” –Ridgewood Events Center at Blue Lake Ranch

  • Instead of purchasing all of the items to make your dream wedding a reality, Rent them!

“There is no need to purchase all of the linens/glasses/etc. when you can rent them. What will you do with all of that after the wedding is over?  By using Durango Party Rental for all of your wedding accessories, you can make your dream wedding come to fruition while at the same time making your money go a lot further!” –Kelly Mandell, Durango Party Rental

The cost of a wedding definitely adds up, but with a little effort you can stretch your dollar and still make your wedding everything you want it to be. The beauty of it all is that the wonderful experience and memories of your wedding day will be yours to own forever.
