Newsrack permit requirement takes effect

DURANGO, Colo. – City Council recently passed a new city code for news racks along Main Avenue that governs the location, appearance, and permit requirements.  This code applies to all newsracks and went into effect July 1, 2009.

All non-permitted news boxes will be removed from the downtown area. These boxes are available by calling Code Enforcement at 375.4930. A limited number of newsrack permits are available for each block at a cost of $30 per permit.
