Nominations Being Accepted for 2012 Adult Role Model Award
Celebrating Community Norms, a project of San Juan Basin Health Department, wants to hear from youth about who they see as positive adult role models in La Plata County. Youth under age 21 can nominate an adult who exemplifies positive qualities including: modeling responsible, healthy behavior, inspiring a youth to be a better person, or positively impacting the lives of young people in our community. The adult could be their parent, a family member, teacher, coach, neighbor, group leader or other adult.
Nomination forms can be obtained at school offices, Fort Lewis College Leadership Center, libraries, the Ignacio Teen Center, the La Plata County Extension Office and the La Plata Boys and Girls Club. The form can also be found on the health department website at sjbhd.org/celebrating-community-norms.
A list of the 40 Development Assets (building blocks of healthy development) accompanies the nomination form to help youth think about all the ways their nominee helps them build assets.
Nominations are due March 30 and award winners will be notified in April. For more information, call Nicole Schnee at 335.2048.
