CDOT to install signal back-up system
at two major intersections

Power out at Main Ave. (US 550) and 17th and 32ndfor several hours on Sunday streets

DURANGO – The Colorado Department of Transportation will be installing a battery back-up system in the control cabinets of two more traffic signals in Durango. This system allows the signals to run for approximately two hours without utility power, and minimizes the impacts on traffic during a power outage.

The installations will happen this Sunday, March 6, first at US 550 (Main) and 17th Street-from 6 AM to about 10 AM; then at Main and 32nd Street-from 10 AM until 2 PM. CDOT will be turning off the traffic signals during the work at each signal. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers during the outages.

Crews greatly appreciate motorists’ patience and safe driving during these brief traffic upgrades.
