Regional Incident Management Team to Test Their Skills

The recently formed Southwest Colorado Incident Management Team will be testing their skills at an exercise tomorrow, August 5th from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Upper Pine Fire District Station located at 515 Sower Drive in Bayfield.  The exercise, which will be integrated with an exercise being conducted by the Upper Pine Fire District, will involve a fictitious hazardous material spill and multiple simulated casualties in an area north of Bayfield.  These tabletop exercised allow emergency responders and members of the incident management team to work together and hone their skills in the case of a real incident.

The Southwest Colorado Incident Management Team is made up of representatives from many agencies throughout the southwest region, including La Plata County, Archuleta County, City of Durango, Southern Ute Indian Tribe, Durango Fire and Rescue Authority, Upper Pine Fire District, Los Pinos Fire District, San Juan Basin Health Department, Durango Police Department, Archuleta County Sheriff’s Office, Archuleta School District, and Medical Reserve Corps.
