TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF COUNTY ROAD 246 DUE TO RED CREEK FIRE
Durango, CO – The La Plata Road and Bridge Department and Office of Emergency Management in conjunction with San Juan Public Lands officials are restricting public access on C.R. 246 and into Red Creek as a result of the Red Creek Fire. For safety reasons, no public access will be allowed onto C.R. 246 and into the burn area. This closure has been prompted by the firefighting activities and heavy air traffic in the fire area. People who reside on C.R. 246 will be allowed to go to and from their homes when they produce an ID showing residency or proof of employment in the restricted area. The closure will remain in place until further notice.
