Tibetan nun and former political prisoner to speak at Fort Lewis College
DURANGO, CO – Tibetan activist and former political prisoner Ngawang Sangdrolwill talk about her life as a young nun who was arrested first at age 13 for nonviolent protests against the Chinese in Tibet. During her imprisonment in the infamous Drapchi prison, she was a leading figure in the Drapchi 14 – a group of nuns whose songs brought worldwide attention to their plight.
Ms. Sangdrol’s talk, sponsored by the College’s Women’s History Month celebration and the FLC Peace Initiative, will take place on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Chemistry Hall, Rm. 130. The presentation is free and open to the public.
