Town of Bayfield Hires Town Manager
The Bayfield Town Board voted unanimously on May 26th, 2011 at a Special Town Board meeting to approve the contract to hire Chris LaMay as the Town Manager.. The former Town Manager, Justin Clifton resigned the position in March of 2011 and former Durango City Manager, Bob Ledger has been filling in as the Interim while the Town Board did an executive search for a permanent replacement.
Chris LaMay is the current Town Administrator for the Town of Elizabeth, CO where he has serviced for the past seven years. He also served as a budget analyst for Adams County, CO, interned in the City Manager’s office for the City of Tucson, AZ, and was a Special Projects Coordinator for the Town of Mt. Crested Butte, CO. Chris LaMay has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Recreation Resource Management from Colorado State University, and a Master’s degree in Public Administration and Policy from the University of Arizona.
The Town received 47 applications for the position and the Town Board & Department Heads interviewed the 5 top candidates at the end of last week.
Chris’s salary will be $82,000.00 + Benefits and he plans to begin work around the middle of July.
