The Durango Cowboy Poetry Gathering starts on September 30th this year. This year’s lineup includes big bands like Red Steagall and His Buckhouse Boys and Hot Club of Cowtown. And a whole host of others like Buster McLaury, Buckaroogirl Adrian, Dirty Don Hinkley and Washtub Jerry. Names like those are sure to draw a crowd. Events take place at the Community Concert Hall, the Henry Strater Theater, the VFW and DSNGRR. A lot of the events are free and open to the public, others require tickets. The Durango Cowboy Gathering, Inc., is a non-profit organization that is working to preserver and perpetuate the traditions of working ranch people of the American West. Celebrating the lifeways of rural people in form of a good old fashioned Campfire, The Cowboy Poetry Gathering invites anyone interested to attend. They welcome everyone to share in the appreciation of the culture and traditions of the west. All proceeds from the event support their annual gathering and youth programs.
