2016 was a year of firsts for Southwest Colorado. The designation of the Bonita Mining District as a Superfund clean-up site in San Juan County ended a decades long debate while a new pipeline system promised delivery of the first domestic water from the long-awaited Animas La Plata Project. The City Arts Commission de-commissioned the Arc of History, and we mourned the death of Durango’s first-ever Blue Angel. Here’s a special round-up of our top news stories from 2016.
