9-R SCHOOL BOARD APPOINTS NEW BOARD MEMBER
Bruce Anderson Tapped As New Director District A Board Member
At a special board meeting today, the Durango School District 9-R Board of Education has appointed Bruce Anderson as its newest Board Member.
The special board meeting was called for the purpose of interviewing candidates and possibly selecting a new board member for the vacancy in Director District A.The seat was vacated on February 12th when former school board member Padraig Lynch submitted his resignation.Per State Law, a board must appoint a successor within sixty days from the date a vacancy occurs.
Mr. Anderson was selected from three highly-qualified and impressive candidates.Currently the Director of Engineering for Four Corners Broadcasting, LLC, Mr. Anderson is well-known for his commitment to the Durango community and working collaborative-ly throughout the Four Corners area.Mr. Anderson has strong volunteer experience in numerous areas throughout 9-R, including previously serving as an appointed 9-R school board member in 2006-07.
Immediately following the selection announcement, Mr. Anderson was sworn in by Board Clerk Kristy Rodri.He will assume his first duties at the Board Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 23, 2010, and will serve until the next school board election in November 2011.
