Fort Lewis College’s Welcome Week to breathe some fun into the new school year

DURANGO – The beginning of a new school year can be an exciting, but also stressful, time. To help new and returning Skyhawks have a little fun, Fort Lewis College is holding a bunch of activities during its Welcome Week celebration. Welcome Week runs from August 27 through September 3, 2011.

The Week kicks off on Saturday, August 27 with a performance by the Kenyan Safari Acrobats at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College. Among the other events of the Week are free donuts and a chance to meet FLC President Dene Thomas and new provost, Barbara Morris, on Monday, August 29. Rec-a-palooza and live music will highlight Wednesday, August 31, with Campus-Community Daze and the FLC Men’s Soccer home opener scheduled for Thursday, September 1. Welcome Week concludes with the FLC Football home opener against South Dakota Mines on Saturday, September 3.

There are many more activities planned for Welcome Week. Visit http://www2.fortlewis.edu/welcomeweek/home.aspx for the full schedule. Community members are invited to join the FLC community for many of the events.
