Fort Lewis College to host Latino College Day on Saturday, February 16

Durango, CO – Fort Lewis College will host its annual Latino College Day in conjunction with Skyhawk Saturday-a preview weekend for the College-on Saturday, February 16 from 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. Events will take place across campus.

The goal is to show 9th through 12th grade Latino students from the Four Corners region the possibilities that going to college can create and give them a taste of college life. Students also get personalized assistance in understanding the sometimes difficult arena of financial aid.

Participants will be part of Skyhawk Saturday in the morning and will participate in scheduled workshops and campus tours until 12:30 p.m., when Latino College Day begins with a special lunch at El Centro de Muchos Colores, the College’s Hispano resource center. Workshops aimed specifically at Latino students in the afternoon include financial aid and scholarship assistance, cultural identity, and a special opportunity to fill out applications and have the application fee waived.

For more information, please call El Centro de Muchos Colores at (970) 247-7290.
