Old Fort Farm Stand serves to benefit students and community

The Old Fort Farm Stand will be back in its usual home on the Fort Lewis College campus on Thursdays. The community is invited to stop by the stand, which will be near the FLC Clock Tower, any Thursday anytime from 2-4 p.m.

Currently available produce includes greens, radishes, carrots, broccoli, snow peas and herbs, including basil, oregano, cilantro, dill and sage. Grass-finished ground beef and pork are also sold. Coming later this summer will be cabbage, beets, beans, peppers, cucumbers, potatoes, corn and tomatoes.

The Old Fort Farm Stand is a creation of the Fort Lewis College Agricultural Department as a way to give students real world experience. The students are responsible for growing the produce and raising the animals that they then sell to the public. The stand is called the Old Fort Farm Stand because the students raise their products on the Old Fort Lewis land in Hesperus, CO.

Parking is free on campus during the summer. Cash and checks are accepted at the stand.
