Workshop Planned On City Land Use And Development Code Proposed New Zoning Districts

Durango, CO – On Wednesday, July 25, 2012 6:00 PM TO 7:30 PM, The Durango Recreation Center at 2700 Main Avenue will host a workshop. The purpose of this workshop is to present and receive feedback on a set of proposed new zoning districts for the City as part of the process of updating its Land Use and Development Code (“LUDC”), which sets out the rules for the use and development of land in the City. These new districts would replace the current districts, with the objective of improving them in the following ways:

1. better protection for existing neighborhoods;
2. better management of the distribution and character of commercial and industrial uses;
3. more specific guidance for the transition of the City’s older commercial areas as they redevelop; and
4. allowing for easier approval of quality mixed use projects in appropriate locations.

Topics for discussion will include an overview of each district, the general types of uses that are proposed to be allowed, the typical forms of development that are anticipated, proposals for buffering between districts, and the proposed locations for the districts.

The general public is urged to attend this important workshop!
