Mercy Regional Medical Center Lifts Visitor Restrictions

Effective immediately, Mercy Regional Medical Center has lifted temporary visitor restrictions that were implemented in late October.  The restrictions followed guidelines set forth the by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) after a spike in the number of H1N1 influenza cases in Colorado and across the country.  According to CDPHE, between August  30 and December 5 of this year there were at least 57 influenza-related deaths in Colorado.

“We thank the community for their understanding and patience during the restriction,” said Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Operations Officer Nancy Hoyt.  “We know the changes were difficult for some families, and we sincerely appreciate their efforts to help protect our patients, visitors, and staff,” she added.

If there is a significant resurgence of H1N1, visitation policies at Mercy may change. Anyone planning to visit the hospital should call  (970) 247-4311 or visit www.mercydurango.org in advance.
