Annual Hershey’s Track & Field Meet Moves to Miller Middle School on May 9
Durango, CO – Hosted by Durango Parks and Recreation, the annual Hershey’s Track & Field Meet kicks off at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9 at the Miller Middle School track. Children of all ages are invited to attend to the free meet and exhibit their running, jumping and throwing skills. The meet features a variety of sprint distance races, the long jump and the softball throw. Boys and girls compete in separate divisions.
Registration for participants begins at 3:30 p.m. at the Miller Middle School track. The youth participants will be separated into competition categories based on their age on December 31, 2012. Children, ages 9 – 14 years old, are eligible to advance to the state meet in Parker, CO on June 23, 2012. To advance, a child must place first in an event in their age category.
Hershey’s Track & Field Program was created over 30 years ago to promote youth physical fitness and to provide fun learning experiences for children. As the largest youth sports program of its kind in the United States and Canada, the track & field meets take place in every state and every province in North America. Last year over 400,000 kids participated in the program.
