Big storm hits Purgatory
More than 13 inches of powder in 24 hours with more on the way.
The extended forecast calls for continued snowfall in the San Juan Mountains with a winter storm warning posted for Monday night and Tuesday. A third storm looks to follow later in the week.
Durango Mountain Resort has received nearly two feet of snow in the past week. The new snow has allowed the Mountain Operations team to open new terrain on the front side of the mountain each day. They will continue to open more trails as the snow continues to fall.
Sven Brunso, vice president of sales and marketing, said Sunday morning, “The timing of this storm couldn’t be better. Locals had a great day yesterday as heavy snow fell during the day making every run better than the last. Our guests are in for another treat today as more of the mountain will be open which will guarantee fresh tracks for everyone. Our weekday pass holders should have an incredible week starting Monday as the new snow will allow us to open even more terrain as the week goes on. This new snow in combination with what is forecast to fall this coming week should assure our holiday customers of exceptional conditions.”
Frontier Airlines is providing service to Durango three times daily from Denver, with connecting flights to more than 40 cities across the nation – reportedly the best air-inclusive package fares in the ski industry.
