City Releases Parks, Open Space, Trails and Recreation Master Plan Draft
Durango, CO – The City of Durango has released the draft Parks, Open Space, Trails and Recreation Master to the community. The draft Master Plan has been posted to the City of Durango web site at www.durangogov.org.
There will be a public presentation of the draft Parks, Open Space, Trails and Recreation Master Plan on Monday, March 1 at 5:30 p.m. at the Durango CommunityRecreation Center located at 2700 Main Avenue. Interested members of the community are encouraged to attend the meeting to receive an overview of the Master Plan and provide comments. Suggested revisions to the draft Master Plan must be received by April 2 to be incorporated in the final Parks, Open Space, Trails and Recreation Master Plan for consideration by the Durango City Council for adoption.
The preparation of the draft Parks, Open Space, Trails and Recreation Master Plan is the culmination of an extensive 18-month process involving significant community input. According to Cathy Metz, Parks and Recreation Director, “a majority of the goals from the 2001 Master Plan have been achieved and the updated 2010 Parks, Open Space, Trails and Recreation Master Plan will establish future priorities and goals for the City.” Furthermore, a current Parks, Open Space, Trails and Recreation Master Plan will position the City favorably for grant funds to assist with future capital improvement projects. Great Outdoors Colorado contributed $50,000 in grant funds toward the development of the updated Master Plan.
