December Locals Benefit Day at Durango Mountain Resort to Benefit La Plata County Mounted Patrol
Durango, CO – Durango Mountain Resort’s first Locals Benefit Day of the season will benefit the La Plata County Mounted Patrol. Locals Day is Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012. Discounted lift tickets are $40 for adults, $32 for seniors (65+)/students (13-17yrs), and $25 for kids (6-12yrs). A coupon must be presented at the Durango Mountain Resort main Ticket Window for the Locals Day discount. Coupons will be available on line at www.lpcmp.org and in the Dec. 13th issue of the Durango Telegraph.
The La Plata County Mounted Patrol is a volunteer non-profit organization that assists the La Plata County Sheriff Dept., Durango Police Dept., Office of Emergency Management, Search and Rescue, Bayfield Marshalls Office and City of Durango. The Mounted Patrol also assists the Durango Mountain Resort Ski Patrol with various duties, such as lift evacuations, sweeps, mountain safety patrols and more.
As a purely volunteer citizen’s group, the Mounted Patrol does not ask for payment for services provided to the community; however, it does request donations to help fund the organization’s needs. The Durango Mountain Resort Locals Benefit Day is just one way that the organization raises funds for its services.
The Mounted Patrol will use the money raised during Locals Day to purchase new radios to replace the ones that will become ineffective once the FCC narrowbands the VHF spectrum in January.
